quick look

I had to put together a ten-image portfolio of my work for someone recently. They asked for images that would demonstrate my range and abilities. It was tough trying to narrow it down to just ten, but here’s what I came up with:

(I know… I’ve been slacking off here recently. There’s just been so much to do that I’ve lost track of blogging. Here’s hoping I can stay better focused on everything!)

oh, eight

Happy New Year, everyone! To celebrate the end of 2007, I’m working on a couple slideshow year-in-reviews. Stay tuned.

waiting for the light

I was in Austin this week to direct a tv commercial, and I took Jim and Meg out for a couple engagement sessions. It was a lot of fun. I’m honored that Jim asked me to be a groomsman, but it would be so much fun to shoot their wedding. Plus, they’ve selected a great location in Laguna Gloria (where we took some of the photos). But Megan knows what she’s doing. She’s hired an awesome photographer she knows. Her name is Stacy Cross. Check out her blog by clicking here.

my little (big) brother

My brother Jim got engaged! He popped the question yesterday and I couldn’t be happier for him. Megan is a great girl who also went to UT and works right now as a preschool teacher.

Here’s the short version: Meg was in El Paso, but had to get back to Austin for the start of school. She wanted Jim to drive her back. Jim told Megan that he couldn’t because he had to help me shoot a wedding in El Paso. She was upset, but got over it after a couple days. While she was on the road to Austin, Jim hopped on a plane and flew out there! When she pulled up to her house, she found the walk to the front door lined with rose petals and Jim waiting on the front porch. He proposed, she said yes (obviously), and Jim took her to the backyard where he had a party all set up and a bunch of her friends and family waiting to congratulate them! I think it was an awesome way to surprise her (but part of that may be because I helped him come up with the idea).

Congratulations, guys!

p.s. I should probably explain the title of this post. Jim is my younger brother, but he’s almost half a foot taller than me. I’ll never forgive him for that… ;)
